FIND YOUR ACADEMIC FIT

Choose the course before the postcode

Australian study options span universities, vocational providers, research degrees and preparation pathways. For Pakistani applicants, a useful comparison includes the course’s entry standard, CRICOS registration, accreditation where relevant, delivery location and any placement conditions.

University degrees

Compare bachelor’s and postgraduate courses by modules, assessment and professional recognition. Verify the exact duration and tuition.

Pathways & packaged study

Check progression requirements and the cost of every stage. A package should make academic sense and meet current visa rules.

Research study

Explore research fit, supervisor availability and funding. Course and visa conditions can differ from taught study.

PREPARE A STRONG APPLICATION

Entry requirements & application documents

Providers set academic and English-language entry standards. Course admission, professional accreditation and Student visa eligibility are separate checks. For a placement-based course, establish who arranges the placement and whether extra health, language or registration requirements apply.

  • Bring your academic transcripts, certificates and passport, plus the English-test or other language evidence accepted for the course.
  • Compare the programme’s CRICOS details, campus, full duration and any prerequisite subjects or work experience.
  • Prepare a clear explanation of your academic progression, course choice and funding plan for the required application evidence.
  • Check available intakes, offer conditions, deposits, refund terms and the provider’s Confirmation of Enrolment process.
PLAN THE COMPLETE BUDGET

Tuition fees & living costs in Australia

Ask each provider for a current tuition quote in Australian dollars and compare the whole qualification, not one semester. Study Australia notes that real living expenses can exceed the minimum financial evidence used for a Student visa. Build your budget from actual housing and day-to-day costs in the city you choose.

Plan your budget in AUD · Australian dollars
  • Include tuition, compulsory fees, Overseas Student Health Cover where required, accommodation and a rental bond.
  • Allow for transport, food, flights, the current visa charge, health checks and English tests where relevant.
  • Compare scholarship value with its eligibility and continuation conditions; funding is not automatic.
  • Plan to fund your studies independently of finding a part-time job.
UNDERSTAND YOUR PERMISSION

Student visa subclass 500 & work conditions

The Student visa process generally requires an eligible course, a valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), the required supporting evidence and Overseas Student Health Cover unless exempt. Check the Genuine Student and current financial, English and health requirements for your circumstances.

Working during your studies

The usual Student visa limit is 48 hours per fortnight while a course is in session, with different provisions for scheduled breaks and research master’s or doctoral study. You generally cannot start work before your course begins. Your grant letter and VEVO record determine your conditions.

After graduation

The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a separate route with its own qualification, age, English and other eligibility rules. Verify the rules relevant to your expected graduation date rather than assuming every Australian course leads to the same post-study stay.

CURRENT PLANNING NOTE

Important changes from 2 October 2026

New rules restrict who can apply for a Student visa while in Australia and when family members can be included. Exemptions and transitional arrangements apply, but family members cannot be added after a Student visa is granted. Check the current Home Affairs rules before making family, transfer or further-study plans.

FAQs about studying in Australia

Practical answers for your next study decision, with guidance from IPF Abroad.

Can I work while studying in Australia?

Many Student visa holders have a 48-hour fortnightly limit during study periods, but exceptions and other conditions apply. Check your grant letter and VEVO before taking work. Employment should not be the foundation of your tuition budget.

Can I include my family in a Student visa application?

Rules changed on 2 October 2026. Family members can only be included where an exemption or applicable transitional arrangement allows it, and they cannot be added after the visa is granted. Get advice on your exact circumstances before planning relocation.

Does choosing a course guarantee a graduate visa?

No. The Temporary Graduate route has separate requirements, and eligibility can depend on your qualification and personal circumstances. A course offer should not be treated as a promise of post-study work or residence.

What should I compare beyond university tuition?

Compare housing, compulsory course costs, insurance, transport, deposits and the full course duration. For practical programmes, also confirm placement arrangements and any professional-recognition requirements.

How can IPF Abroad help me compare Australian course options?

IPF Abroad can help you compare the exact qualification, CRICOS details, academic requirements, campus, duration and complete fee. Check professional recognition separately if your intended career requires it.

What should I ask before choosing an Australian pathway package?

Confirm the entry and progression requirements, total duration and fees for every stage. IPF Abroad can help you compare the package with other academically suitable routes and the current visa requirements.

How should I compare Australian campuses and cities?

Use actual accommodation options, commuting needs and course delivery details for the campus you would attend. IPF Abroad can help you compare the full budget alongside the academic reasons for choosing it.

Does an offer letter mean I already have a CoE?

Follow the provider’s conditions and Confirmation of Enrolment process. IPF Abroad can help you identify the academic, acceptance and payment steps still needed before preparing the relevant visa evidence.

How early should I prepare an Australian study application?

Work backwards from the provider’s intake and deadlines, allowing time for documents, English evidence, offer conditions and the visa process. IPF Abroad can help you build a timeline without promising a processing date.

How can I discuss my Australian study plans with IPF Abroad?

Use the Australia enquiry form on this page. IPF Abroad can follow up to discuss your qualifications, course interests, preferred intake and budget, including any questions about the current application rules.
