FIND YOUR ACADEMIC FIT

One region. Different study systems.

There is no single European admission policy, tuition fee or student work allowance. Pakistani applicants should choose the country and qualification first, then check the institution, teaching language, recognition and immigration process for that exact destination.

Bachelor’s study

Check whether your school qualification gives direct entry or whether a preparatory route is required. Teaching language can narrow your options.

Master’s study

Compare course prerequisites, academic credits, taught or research format and the recognition of your previous qualification.

Doctoral research

Find a suitable department or supervisor and establish whether the position is funded, salaried or self-financed.

Study interests to explore

  • Engineering
  • Business & economics
  • Computing
  • Design & creative arts
  • Environmental studies
  • Social sciences

European countries to compare

Germany

Compare public and private providers. Many public bachelor’s and master’s programmes have low or no tuition, but exceptions and semester charges exist. Living-cost funding and language requirements still need a complete plan.

Ireland

Explore an English-speaking study environment. Non-EU fees and housing costs vary, and eligible-course and immigration-permission requirements must be checked separately.

France

Check whether the programme is taught in French or English. Public and private fees differ, and non-EU students should confirm the fee category and any exemption that applies to them.

Finland

English-taught bachelor’s and master’s routes are available. Non-EU/EEA students generally pay tuition for these programmes; university scholarships have their own conditions.

LOOK BEYOND THE COURSE TITLE

Compare study options in Europe

CompareA useful question to ask
Country and teaching languageCompare the country, programme language and local-language needs.Which teaching and placement language requirements apply to my course?
Provider and recognitionCheck the institution, awarding body and qualification-equivalence process. Is my previous qualification accepted for this exact route?
Fees and residence processCompare the non-EU fee category and national study-permission requirements. What are the complete costs and evidence needed for my passport and intake?
PREPARE A STRONG APPLICATION

Entry requirements & application documents

Entry requirements are set by the institution and national education system. A course taught in English may still involve local-language requirements for clinical work, placements or professional registration. Confirm the awarding body and campus before paying a deposit.

  • Prepare your passport and complete school or university record, with translations, legalisation or equivalence documents where requested.
  • Check subject prerequisites, language evidence and whether applications go directly to the university or through a national platform.
  • For postgraduate study, compare the required previous degree, credits and research or portfolio requirements.
  • Ask for the current application window, scholarship deadline and deposit or refund conditions for your chosen intake.
PLAN THE COMPLETE BUDGET

Tuition fees & living costs in Europe

Build a budget for the specific country, city and programme. A low tuition fee does not mean a low total cost: rent, insurance, transport, residence-permit charges and proof-of-funds requirements can be substantial. EU/EEA fee rates should not be assumed to apply to a Pakistani passport holder.

Plan your budget in Country-specific currency
  • Request the non-EU/international tuition fee and the full programme duration in writing.
  • Compare accommodation availability before accepting an offer, especially in cities with limited student housing.
  • Budget in the relevant local currency and include exchange-rate movement and an emergency reserve.
  • Check scholarships against nationality, course, academic merit and renewal conditions; keep an affordable plan if funding is not awarded.
UNDERSTAND YOUR PERMISSION

European student visas & work permissions

A short-stay Schengen visa is not a general permission to complete a long-term degree or work across Europe. Check the destination’s long-stay study visa or residence-permit rules, including admission evidence, funding, insurance and any arrival registration.

Working during your studies

Student employment limits, permitted work and graduate job-search routes differ by country and permission type. Confirm the rules with the national immigration authority for your chosen destination. Permission in one country does not automatically authorise employment in another.

After graduation

If a graduate stay is important to your decision, check the eligible qualification, application deadline and financial conditions for that country’s route. Compare academic value and professional recognition alongside any current post-study option.

CURRENT PLANNING NOTE

Start with a country-level comparison

For a 2027 study plan, compare two countries and two suitable programmes in each. Verify fees and residence requirements for your passport and intended course instead of relying on a generic “Europe package”.

FAQs about studying in Europe

Practical answers for your next study decision, with guidance from IPF Abroad.

Can Pakistani students study in Europe in English?

English-taught options exist, but availability depends on the country, institution and degree level. Check the language of every module and any placement or professional-language requirement before applying.

Is university education free across Europe?

No. Fees depend on the country, institution, programme and student category. Some public programmes have low or no tuition, while other courses charge substantial fees. Living expenses and funding evidence remain part of the budget.

Can a Schengen visitor visa be used for a degree?

Do not assume it can. Long-term study normally requires the national study visa or residence permission appropriate to your destination. Check the exact route before making travel or enrolment plans.

How does IPF Abroad help me choose a European destination?

We can compare your academic profile, course interests, preferred teaching language and budget, then organise a shortlist and document plan for the countries you choose.

How can IPF Abroad help me shortlist European countries?

IPF Abroad can help you compare the teaching language, entry route, qualification recognition, full budget and national residence requirements for the individual countries you are considering.

Should I compare public and private European institutions?

Yes. Confirm the awarding body, recognition, fees and course requirements for each institution. IPF Abroad can help you organise those checks without assuming that one label guarantees a particular cost or outcome.

What should I ask about an English-taught European programme?

Confirm the language of teaching and assessment, plus any local-language requirements for placements or professional registration. IPF Abroad can help you identify the questions that apply to your chosen subject.

How do I check the recognition of my previous qualification?

Follow the institution’s and destination country’s requirements for academic evaluation or equivalence. IPF Abroad can help you understand which confirmation or documents are requested for your selected course.

Can I use one application timetable for all European countries?

Do not assume deadlines or application platforms are the same. IPF Abroad can help you keep a separate timetable for each country, programme and scholarship opportunity in your shortlist.

How can I get guidance for a specific European study route?

Complete the Europe enquiry form and mention your preferred countries during the follow-up. IPF Abroad can discuss the course, language, budget and document steps for your individual shortlist.
